The ParkSeek Canada app is for use by participants enrolled in research studies undertaken by the Human Environments Analysis Lab at The University of Western Ontario. You must receive an invite code from us to access this app’s functionality. The app logs your device’s position to send surveys to you at set times and locations.

The ParkSeek project aims to gather information about the population health impacts of parks, protected areas, and recreational facilities (hereinafter ‘park area’) across Canada. Data generated from this project could be linked to other health and socioeconomic indicators to understand how parks, protected areas, and recreational facilities contribute to health behaviours and outcomes; thus, providing new tools, technologies, and approaches for public health action.
We are making the app available publicly on the App Store to make it easier for research participants to download and install, and for us to manage updates to the app on their devices. The app only works and begins collecting data once a user receives an invite code from us after completing the study consent process, and inputs it correctly on the welcome screen. The app does not collect any data without these steps being completed first, as outlined in the letter of information and privacy policy here: https://portal.theheal.ca/portal/apps/sites/#/parkseek-research-hub/pages/privacy-policy
